The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013)

Movie based on a book with the same name. It is a fantastic movie, with mythical creatures and magic. It follows the life of a girl called Clary, who finds out her mom isn’t really who she said she was. One day Clary received a phone call from her mom telling her that she shouldn’t come home. Clary heard her scared so she ran up to her house to discover her mom gone and her home completely destroyed. She made new acquaintances: Shadow hunters, whose job is to protect the world from demons. She eventually falls in love with one named Jace. The plot of the story is finding the mortal cup and only CLary knows where it is, only she doesn’t know that.

I have to say the movie wasn’t really great. I like those types of stories, it is the kind of topic I would like a book to have. The movie is mostly directed to teens, if you like fantastic things it wouldn’t be a waste of time to watch it.

Director: Harald Zwart

Cast: Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Jemima West, Aidan Turner, Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Inception (2010)

It is a movie about dreams. The main character Cobb can’t return to the United States because he is a fugitive. He lives on getting information of people through their dreams. He uses a device that makes him be in the person’s dream. When the person wakes up he or she doesn’t know that the conversations in the dream were actually somehow real. The plot in the story is that Cobb receives a job offer, he is supposed to get information from a certain man and if he succeeds he will no longer be a fugitive, and will be able to go to his children in the United States.

I really like this movie. It is really interesting, it keeps you focused in it. I recommend it to everyone, from teenagers to old people.

Director: Christopher Nolan

Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy

Ice Age (2002)

This is an animated movie. It is about three different animals, a mammoth called Manfred, a sloth called Sid and a sabertooth tiger called Diego who are in a journey looking for the father of a little kid they found out in a river shore near a human settlement that was attacked by tigers. The pack of tigers that attacked them was the one Diego belonged to. What Sid and Manfred didn’t know was that he was working undercover to bring the child to his pack so they could take revenge on what the humans had done to some tigers of their pack.

Ice Age is a very funny movie. It is sort of a classic movie for my family and me. We watch it together every now and then, and each time, we laugh at the jokes in the movie. We even have some inside jokes from the it. It also has three sequels but I think this one is the best.

Directors: Chris Wedge, Carlos Saldanha

Stars: Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary

House at the End of the Street

Elissa is a girl who just moved in to a very pretty house with her mom. They could only afford it because of the murdered that had happened in the neighboring house. The people in the neighborhood said that four years ago a girl killed her parents with a hammer while they were sleeping. Now the only one that live their was the girl’s big brother Ryan. Elissa and Ryan started hanging out against Elissa’s mom better judgement. Ryan was always bullied because of what had happened and Elissa always defended him. Strange things started to happen around Elissa and she starts figuring out things on her own.

I watched this movie with my sister and cousin. We ended up all tangled in the edge of the couch, and my cousin almost left me deaf. It is not a terror movie, it is a suspense movie.

Director: Mark Tonderai

Cast: Jennifer Lawrence, Max Thieriot, Gil Bellows, Elisabeth Shue

Stuck in Love (2012)

This movie follows the life of a divorced couple with two teeneage kids, Samantha and Rusty. At first it describes each character and their love lives. Bill, the father is a writer who is stuck loving his wife who left him three years ago. Erica the mother lives with another man. Samantha doesn´t believe in love and just goes through life pretending she is cold and without feelings. Rusty is a high school kid, who according to this father needs to get more experiences. Since the kids were little Bill introduced them to the art of writing so they both are writers. Samantha has one book published and Rusty writes stories once in a while. The story shows how each one of them is changed by love during one year.

I have only watched this movie once and I liked it. It isn´t the best movie but it keeps you entertained. I recommend this movie to people who like romantic comedies.
